Demonstrate knowledge of, and provide support at Urban Search

and Rescue Operations.
This unit standard is for people involved in a support role at urban structural collapse incidents.

People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of:

urban search and rescue response structures, and safety and incident management;

hazards associated with urban search and rescue operations;

building construction methods and associated structural collapse patterns;

and apply surface search and rescue techniques at urban search and rescue incidents.

Rescue casualties using rescue techniques
People credited with this unit standard are able to: locate casualties within a specified area;

demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices for working at heights;

rescue casualties at heights; rescue casualties from unsafe environments;

and move casualties to a safe environment.

Demonstrate knowledge of the coordinated incident

management system  (CIMS 2)
People credited with this unit standard are able to: describe the role and purpose of CIMS;

and demonstrate knowledge of the elements, terminology, and structure of CIMS;

and of the incident control procedures in CIMS operating environments.

and either or any of the following First Aid series,

6400 series / 26551 & 26552 / PHEC / 23406
